Letter Writing w. EveryVoice Coalition
Updated: Feb 25
On October 14th, we hosted a letter writing event in the MPR in collaboration with the EveryVoice Coalition, a group of “students, young alumni, allies, and survivors of sexual violence in Massachusetts.” They are doing really great work and you can read more about them here:
Emerson students wrote letters in support of two bills going through the Massachusetts State House around Sexual Misconduct on college campuses, specifically H.1208/S.736 and H.1209/S.764. These bills would create anonymous campus climate surveys around Sexual Misconduct on campus, which would generate accurate, up to date data on this issue. They would also enact many Title IX recommendations laid out under the Obama administration and create trauma informed response training for college employees about reports of assault. You can read more about the bills here:
We wrote letters to key state reps asking them to take action on this legislation by moving it forward in the House/Senate and to voice their support for this bill. This legislation would do a lot of good, and you all voiced your support to our elected officials! Thank you!
